Hy-Tek Team Manager alternative, for the coaching half

Team Manager runs your meets. It also sells workout tools, but only in the $570 Gold package, and only on Windows. MySwimSet does the practice half for $149 a year, in a browser.

If you are looking for a Hy-Tek Team Manager alternative, the honest answer is that it depends which half you are replacing. Every Hy-Tek fact below is quoted from Hy-Tek and ACTIVE Network’s own published pages as of August 2026.

The real difference: a desk program and a deck product

Team Manager was built around the meet: entries, results, records, and the reporting that hangs off them. That is genuinely the best in the category, and the workout module reads like what it is, an addition to a records program, gated behind the top package and exported out to a pace clock.

MySwimSet starts from the other end. The practice is the thing you write every day, so writing it is the fastest path in the product, printing it for the wall is one click, and Run Mode turns it into a live deck timer in your hand. Attendance is a tap per swimmer. The season report a parent reads is generated from the practices you already wrote. Nothing needs a Windows machine.

Where Hy-Tek is the right call

If you run meets, you need Team Manager, and MySwimSet is not a substitute for any part of that. Entries, results import, team records, and the Meet Manager pipeline are the backbone of how US swimming actually operates, and we do none of it. Team Manager also exports workout sets straight to a pace clock, which we do not. And a one-time license genuinely can cost less than a subscription if you keep the same version for years. Most programs we talk to keep Team Manager for meets and use something else to coach.

Frequently asked

What is the best Hy-Tek Team Manager alternative for writing practices?

It depends which half of Team Manager you mean. For meet entries, results, and team records, there is no real alternative: Team Manager is the system of record in US swimming and MySwimSet does not try to replace it. For the coaching half (writing practices, running them on deck, tracking attendance and swimmer development), MySwimSet is built for exactly that, runs in a browser instead of only on Windows, and costs $149/year against the $570 Gold package that unlocks workouts in Team Manager. Plenty of programs run both.

How much does Hy-Tek Team Manager cost?

As of August 2026, Hy-Tek's published prices for Team Manager for Swimming are $170 Bronze, $395 Silver, and $570 Gold, with $59 to upgrade to the current version and $175 to advance from Silver to Gold. Workout creation, workout training with swimmer attendance, and pace-clock export are Gold features, so the workout tools require the $570 package. Verify current pricing on Hy-Tek's own site before deciding.

Is MySwimSet cheaper than Hy-Tek Team Manager?

Not always, and it depends how long you keep the software. Team Manager Gold is a one-time $570 license; MySwimSet is $149/year. If you buy Gold once and never upgrade, Team Manager costs less from about year four onward. What the subscription buys is a product that keeps changing: browser and phone access, parent-ready swimmer reports, automatic standards checks, and updates without a $59 version purchase. Both are defensible choices and the math is public, so do it for your own situation.

Does Team Manager run on a Mac?

Hy-Tek's own store page states that "All Hy-Tek programs require a Windows operating system." Coaches on Macs typically run it through virtualization or a Windows machine. MySwimSet runs in any browser, which in practice means the laptop you have and the phone in your pocket on deck.

Can I import my Team Manager workouts?

Not automatically. There is no importer today and we will not pretend otherwise. Most coaches start with the current week rather than migrating history, because MySwimSet parses the same shorthand you already write. Import is the most common request we get and it is on the roadmap.
